Thai Yoga Bodywork
Thai yoga bodywork is a therapeutic practice originating from Thailand that combines assisted yoga stretches, compression, assisted yoga poses, and rhythmic pressure along energy lines to promote relaxation, flexibility, and balance in the body. It is a personalized session where the practitioner gently guides you through movements and stretches to release tension, improve circulation, and restore harmony to your body's natural flow of energy. Not only does the practitioner use their hands, but also uses their palms, thumbs, elbows, and feet to apply pressure and facilitate movement, creating a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience. It is a unique blend of yoga, meditation, and gentle manipulation that leaves you feeling relaxed, revitalized, and more connected to your body.
Typically performed on the floor lying on a mat, (think futon, not yoga mat) fully clothed, a certified bodywork practitioner guides you through partner yoga poses and stretches. Usually, it starts with focusing on the feet and ends with the face and head. By starting with the feet, a person’s energy can be moved upward and in turn, helps increase the circulation of blood flow and energy throughout the body and reduces stress levels. With increased blood circulation, more oxygen will flow to the brain which will help decrease headaches.
Hope earned her Thai Yoga Bodywork by working with Michael Sitzer of Ashville, NC. She completed 36 hours of hands on training and received her professional checkout with Angela Yong Sellers of Columbia, SC. This practice has afforded a way for Hope to discover another way of helping people ease the aches and pain of everyday life. This practice feels like "home" to her. Her journey through yoga teacher training and into the yoga community brought her to bodywork which was not a modality that she was familiar with. Now, she knows this practice is where she was headed. She looks forward to working with you and helping you to gain a multitude of benefits from this practice. She is always eager to talk about Thai Yoga Bodywork, so please don't hesitate to reach out to her with any questions or to schedule.
