The Iron Zen Experience
At Iron Zen Yoga & Wellness, we believe wellness is not about perfection. It's about meeting yourself where you are.
Whether you are seeking strength, mobility, stress relief, healing, or simply a moment to slow down, our goal is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where you can explore movement, rest, and self-care in a way that works for your body.
We recognize that every person arrives with a unique story, and we honor that by offering accessible, adaptable practices that support physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Through yoga, massage therapy, bodywork, and mindful movement, we strive to help people cultivate greater ease, resilience, and connection in their everyday lives.
You don't need to be flexible. You don't need experience. You simply need to begin where you are.
Hope Mercer is the owner of Iron Zen Yoga & Wellness, a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Thai Yoga Bodywork Practitioner, and experienced yoga teacher.
Her journey began with a simple search for peace. Like many people, she found herself constantly moving from one thought to the next, rarely experiencing true stillness. When she discovered yoga, she found something unexpected—a practice that quieted the noise and helped her feel more connected to herself.
What began as a personal practice soon became a calling. After completing her yoga teacher training and beginning to teach in 2021, Hope discovered that helping others find greater ease, confidence, and well-being through movement was unlike any work she had done before.
For more than 20 years, Hope worked in healthcare as a licensed optician, a career that reinforced her passion for helping others improve their quality of life. That same desire to serve others eventually led her to open Iron Zen Yoga in 2023 and later pursue training in Thai Yoga Bodywork and massage therapy.
Today, Hope's work is grounded in a simple philosophy: meet people where they are. Whether guiding a yoga class, providing bodywork, or working one-on-one with a massage client, she believes healing begins with listening to the body and honoring its unique needs.
The greatest reward in her work is witnessing someone discover that they are stronger, more capable, and more resilient than they believed themselves to be.
Training and Professional Background
Hope Mercer is the owner of Iron Zen Yoga Wellness and a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Thai Yoga Bodywork Practitioner, and experienced yoga teacher. Her work is rooted in the belief that movement, mindful touch, and self-awareness have the power to support healing, resilience, and overall well-being.
Hope began her yoga practice at a local YMCA and, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, enrolled in her first yoga teacher training. What began as a personal practice soon became a calling. After teaching her first classes in 2021, she quickly discovered that guiding others toward greater ease, confidence, and connection in their bodies was unlike any work she had done before.
For more than 20 years, Hope worked in healthcare as a dual licensed optician, a career that reinforced her passion for helping others improve their quality of life. While the tools and setting have changed over the years, her purpose has remained the same: helping people feel and function at their best.
In April 2023, Hope opened Iron Zen Yoga, bringing a dedicated yoga studio to Cambridge and creating a welcoming space for people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. As her understanding of movement and wellness continued to evolve, so did her desire to help others. This path led her to Thai Yoga Bodywork and ultimately to massage therapy, expanding the ways she could support clients both on and off the mat.
Hope's teaching and bodywork philosophy is simple: meet people where they are. Whether working with a yoga student, a massage client, or someone navigating recovery, she believes that healing begins by listening to the body and honoring its unique needs. Her approach emphasizes accessibility, adaptability, and the understanding that wellness is not about perfection, but about creating a sustainable relationship with ourselves through movement, rest, and self-care.
When she's not teaching or working with clients, Hope can often be found spending time with her family, knitting, sewing, learning new skills, and continuing her education in the fields of movement, bodywork, and holistic wellness.
She is honored to walk alongside her clients as they move, heal, and discover what is possible in their own bodies.
